I Ching Astrology Sign Descriptions

Unlike western astrology, which uses your month of birth to establish your Star sign, I Ching Astrology uses your year of birth. It is based on an ancient calendar, the Chinese Solar Year, which runs between 4 February and 3 February the following year. So those born between 1 January and 4 February fall into the previous year according to the western calendar. The descriptions of the 9 Stars dates back to the I Ching itself, giving richness, depth, clarity and simplicity to this tried and tested system.

Strong, energetic, optimistic and powerful. Forthright, frank and honest, you can be prone to grandiosity and impatience, but your lively sense of humour and sensitive insightfulness always save the day.

You carry both the joy and responsibility of the awakening spirit of the Thunder Star. In I Ching Astrology, your symbolism has you marked as “the eldest son.” You have enormous energy and creativity. Yours is the soul of the pioneer. You are a groundbreaker. And every family needs one, although they might not always be quite so sure, as you will rarely heed anyone’s advice, You simply go for it and sort out the consequences later!

Your resilience and impulsive drive for independence can land you in hot water particularly early on in life.

Always where the action is. You are sensitive to criticism. But your resilience means that you are never deterred from taking up a challenge and seeing it through to the end. Your enquiring mind and determined nature make you a natural leader.

Whether you like it or not you will always be at the hub of activity, the centre of attention. You are charismatic, a natural people-magnet. Whether in a family discussion or a meeting at work, you will always make your presence felt, and, if you're not careful, the focal point of any ensuing argument.

As a 5 T'ai Chi Star your central position in the I Ching Astrology constellation, you have a unique position of

Natural, active energy drives you to situations where your inspiring and passionate nature can effect positive change. Always in touch with what's new and interesting, you are proud, not so very practical, but you always see the bigger picture.

As your Star Sign proclaims, your true strength is lighting up the world for others so they can see more clearly. Yet this must be done with total recognition that you can burn yourself out all too easily. Fire can seem to burn erratically but when its energy is properly directed even the impossible seems possible. Where others struggle to see the path ahead, you can effortlessly illuminate it for them.

On a personal level your moods can change very quickly:

Strong, capable and likely to achieve great prosperity, you are not afraid to speak your mind. You also have a contemplative side - a need for time on your own to restore the hidden strength you generously share with all.

Those who know you well will have discovered a hidden volcanic side to your mountainous nature. Your eruptions are never random but always directed against injustice – whether perpetrated on your friends, associates or society in general. In I Ching Astrology, the stable, strong and still mountain always conceals a hidden cave. And this quiet place of refuge gives a meditative aspect to your character. But, when provoked by prejudice or unfairness, you emerge from your retreat in a flash to right whatever wrongs you have perceived. Those that question the direction of your moral compass find fault in your self-righteousness.

7 Lake Star

Charismatic with a spontaneous sense of fun and optimism, you are a polished performer. You have a free and independent nature, tempered with a deeper, reflective and spiritual nature. You are articulate and persuasive with a winning charm.

The best way to communicate is to listen, and this is your great strength. And what’s more you give others that reassuring sense of "being listened to".

The Lake Trigram in the I Ching is about reflecting and revealing change. So the more you develop your art of listening, the more ably you will be able to communicate your understanding in person or in writing - to a much wider audience. Because you are so brilliant at seeing the big picture, this is a real gift and appreciated by all who know you – or your written work.

Your 7 Lake Star represents the ‘youngest daughter’ in the archetypal I Ching family. This is a deceptively powerful role, because you draw strength from the reflective experiences of your elder siblings and parents.
