Excellence is a habit

The unfailing cycles of water – tides and rainfall – preserve life on our planet. Greek philosopher, Aristotle (picture right with Plato), had profound things to say about repetition: “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.”

On this 1 Water Day, I reflect on how persistence affects your Birth Star

1 Water: Awareness of the ebb and flow of things commands your respect.

2 Earth: The hard fact might be that discipline means an easy life.

3 Thunder: Again, you have the chance to give thanks for a wonderful life.

4 Wind: A good day for both fact-finding and fact-facing.

5 T’ai Chi: Your natural good sense is acknowledged and welcomed.

6 Heaven: You can consider and even question your love of order.

7 Lake: Appreciate the continuity and consistency of family.

8 Mountain: As the pace quickens, notice the benefit of old patterns.

9 Fire: Don’t cast your fate to the wind, simply adjust your sails,

Laugh and the whole world will too

“Blessed are they who can laugh at themselves. They shall never cease to be amused.” So runs an old Chinese proverb, which speaks to the Chi of a 9 Fire Day.

Fire Chi suggests transparency as well as publicity. So don’t let pride become a stumbling block, rather enjoy the certainty, humour and respect of honesty.

This is how the day shapes up for your Birth Star.

1 Water Star: You will feel a strong sense of support in all your exploits.

2 Earth Star: Don’t force the pace, you will benefit from reflection.

3 Thunder Star: A good day for assessing your potential and plans.

4 Wind Star: Fill your day in the Fire House with sparkling wit and humour.

5 T’ai Chi Star: You are on the starting line again – cherish this new beginning.

6 Heaven Star: You will feel the call of nurture as much as nature today.

7 Lake Star: Without effort, your charm will sparkle and yield results.

8 Mountain Star: Empowered, you can reconcile thoughts and action.

9 Fire Star: Your sparkling influence insists on not taking ourselves too seriously.

Change from the Inside Out

An 8 Mountain Day is perfect territory for self-exploration. The Chi combines a contemplative spirit and a metaphysical urge for transformation.

This is how I see the day unfolding for your Birth Star:

1 Water Star: Absorb any restless sensitivity by taking a different perspective.

2 Earth Star: You will feel grounded and happy to enjoy your own company.

3 Thunder Star: You are on show today – keep your focus sharp.

4 Wind Star: A day of comfort and to listen to your muse.

5 T’ai Chi Star: A sense of conviction will mobilise your plans.

6 Heaven Star: Letting go is the only way to benefit from today’s Chi.

7 Lake Star: Now you can fully appreciate the rewards of your endeavours.

8 Mountain Star: The forces that drive you spin together in a constructive spiral.

9 Fire Star: You can rise to the challenge with integrity and power.

No better time to be Who You Are

Your weekend 11-13 June 2010

Happiness makes poor men rich and unhappiness makes rich men poor. The key to an enjoyable life is attitude – and on Friday, a 5 T’ai Chi Day, we can all thrive in being true to ourselves. All Birth Stars are in their own Houses in I Ching Astrology’s cosmic grid.

The two Metal days that follow link the efficiency of Saturday’s 6 Heaven Star, insisting we find contentment, to Sunday’s 7 Lake Star which always promises tranquillity and relaxation.

Looks like a good weekend.

Never say “Never.”

"The person who says it cannot be done should not interrupt the person doing it."

A fitting Chinese proverb for a 4 Wind Day, when the Chi is high and comfort zones expand and possibilities become realities.

On a day when you can set your sights high, this is how I see it panning out for your Birth Star.

1 Water Star: Your chances for success are closer to home than you realise.

2 Earth Star: Inspiration awaits you in new ideas, ready to blossom.

3 Thunder Star: Your level of accomplishment is limited only by your imagination.

4 Wind Star: A sense of elevation will give you vital new insights.

5 T’ai Chi Star: Controlled rather than fanciful thought will release your potential.

6 Heaven Star: Take stock and see how you can embellish recent achievements.

7 Lake Star: They said it couldn’t be done; now figure out how it can!

8 Mountain Star: Yes, you knew it could be done and now others know it too.

9 Fire Star: No need to feel conflicted, you’ll benefit from a quieter day.

Fear yields to comfort on 2 Earth Day

A 2 Earth Day is about comfort and heeding good advice. Particularly don’t respond to lingering fears. As cancer-cure pioneer Marie Curie succinctly observed: “Nothing in life is to be feared. It is only to be understood.”

On this reflective day, here’s how I see the outlook for your Birth Star today:

1 Water Star: High energy Chi will keep you on full alert.

2 Earth Star: Your compassionate nature will be well exercised today.

3 Thunder Star: Focussed energy will boost your chances.

4 Wind Star: Respond to the calm and focus on needed change.

5 T’ai Chi Star: It pays to look at all the options and then make real choices.

6 Heaven Star: Your strategies are about to be recognised and pay off.

7 Lake Star: Modern life sees no sense in taking time off, but you should.

8 Mountain Star: A special time to ponder - much suited to your nature.

9 Fire Star: Wearing your heart on your sleave ignites passion today.

The Magic of Words

A One Water Day evokes a sense of exploration into hidden power. And, here, Sigmund Freud’s take on the magic of words can be both instructive and illuminating: “Words and magic were in the beginning one and the same thing, and even today words retain much of their magical power.”

With today’s Water Chi focusing on the deeper currents of life, I have chosen the words for your Star’s forecast with great care.

1 Water: Sensitive speech will serve your powerful influence well.

2 Earth: It can be more about how you say it than what you say.

3 Thunder: A self-congratulatory note of approval is in order today.

4 Wind: Today, if you must, compose that letter, but wait to send it.

5 T’ai Chi: A judicious word engenders maximum momentum.

6 Heaven: Nourish your love of words, but embrace silence.

7 Lake: You will see the benefit of a deftly crafted phrase.

8 Mountain: Today you can’t afford not to tell it like it is

9 Fire: The power of persuasion works best wed with compassion.
